An Interesting Journey....

....from the pew to the pavement! This is going to be a great study. Are we ready for the challenge to be "One in a Million?" Wanda challenged us to come up with a one minute life journey story. Would anyone like to share theirs here on this blog? Be our guest!

From the moment the Lord brought our family to Dorsett Village Church, (17 years ago this month), it has been a life journey for sure! I have learned so much these past 17 years. This body of Christ is so loving, kind, caring and accepting. We have walked through many things together and have grown so close. I especially love the progression of worship and Bible Study the Lord has led us on. The women of the church started with Beth's very first Bible Study...."A Woman's Heart - God's Dwelling Place." There were about a half a dozen of us in Dee Rissell's living room. We've learned so much! Here we are 17 years later, 20 plus strong....isn't God good?
As far as the music and worship - we've come a long way baby! When I first started leading the music/worship at Dorsett, we didn't have a band. I prayed and asked the Lord to send us some band members/musicians if it was His will. Not very long after that, Brian started on drums and Stewart on the bass, while I played guitar. Now look what God's done - whew - such great praise & worship! He's so good to us.
"Thank You, Lord, for this spiritual journey/pilgrimmage you have brought us on!!"

I asked everyone to blog, then I got so busy I forgot! :( I love Janet's "journey here at DVC" - and I hope others will blog or come to the Study and share your journey. Also, are there any things you do that keep you Christ centered on your journey? For example - when you wake up in the morning you can give the day to Christ and ask Him to be with you every step that day...

My journey this week - As I studied each day I am working on the journey of saying good about others - only good. I'm keeping this little poem handy as a reminder:

I Know Something Good About You
Poet: Louis C. Shimon

Wouldn't this old world be better
If the folks we meet would say -
"I know something good about you!"
And treat us just that way?
Wouldn't it be fine and dandy
If each handclasp, fond and true,
Carried with it this assurance -
"I know something good about you!"
Wouldn't life be lots more happy
If the good that's in us all
Were the only thing about us
That folks bothered to recall?
Wouldn't life be lots more happy
If we praised the good we see?
For there's such a lot of goodness
In the worst of you and me!
Wouldn't it be nice to practice
That fine way of thinking, too?
You know something good about me;
I know something good about you.

Love that poem, Wanda. It's a great challenge for us. As we studied this past week about "The rabble rousers" who stirred up dissension and grumbling and complaining amidst the Israelites, let's don't be one of "the rabble" let's be one that repeats only things like: "I know something good about you!"

As far as keeping Christ at the center, I use God's Word to do that. There's something about scripture that refocuses my life. I try to memorize it so I always have it with me. Another great tip, when you are in a funk, is to put on praise and worship music....it really lifts you toward Christ!
